Story in one paragraph

Clay Masterclass started as a compact set of studio notes—checklists, diagrams, and firing schedules—shared between instructors. When students asked for a clearer path, we turned those notes into a curriculum: fundamentals, repetition, critique, and calm confidence at the wheel.

Quality bar

Every lesson must answer: what to do, why it matters, and how to self-check.

2024
2018 — First studio workshop +

We launched a pilot series focused on wheel fundamentals—centering, pulling walls, and trimming with clear self-checks. The goal was repeatability, not speed.

2020 — Global online courses +

Remote-friendly learning expanded our impact across regions. We standardized lesson structure: setup, action, common errors, and a quick rubric for critique.

2022 — Feedback system +

We introduced structured critique prompts so students could diagnose issues with clay body, moisture, and form—before asking an instructor.

2024 — Hybrid learning +

We now blend studio practice with rigorous online curriculum. Students move through clear phases: technique, form, surface, firing, and portfolio.

Principles

The constraints that keep our courses clean and effective.

Instruction

  • One concept per lesson; fewer words, more checks.
  • Errors are documented as patterns with fixes.
  • Progress is a loop: attempt → diagnose → adjust.

Experience

  • Minimal UI; navigation never competes with content.
  • Accessible contrast and readable typography by default.
  • Respect privacy: clear consent controls and no hidden tracking.
